AKC S.T.A.R Puppy Program

One of the exciting programs that we are pleased to be able to offer is called the AKC S.T.A.R program, which is run through the American Kennel Club (AKC). This program is open to puppies under the age of one year, as long as they are up to date on all their vaccinations. This program offers six sessions for your puppy to participate in. This is a great opportunity for your pup to make new friends, as all the classes are taught in a group setting. However, the groups are kept small in order to ensure that everyone is able to receive the help and feedback they need to be successful.

In the S.T.A.R program, there are four priorities that our certified trainers focus on when teaching the sessions. Two of the priorities focus on your puppy — we want to ensure that your pup has the opportunity to practice socialization skills and feel comfortable around different dogs. We also want to ensure that your pup has a grasp on all basic commands, which is a strong foundation for any further training you and your family may want to pursue.

The other two goals are focused on helping educate the dog owners on how to provide their pet with appropriate and responsible care so that both owner and pup can live a long and happy life together. Specifically, the AKC wants to educate owners about the appropriate amount of exercise and activity their new pup needs, as well as provide information on how to best care for the pup in various situations and scenarios. Because every dog is different, this information can be helpful for even the most veteran dog owner!

Taking the AKC course has benefits other than the excellent training for you and your pup. Upon graduation, you will receive a frameable certificate. Additionally, your pet will be added to the American Kennel Club S.T.A.R program graduate database, as well as an official handbook from the AKC detailing best care practices for your pup.

Puppy Academy

This program is exclusively planned with young puppies in mind. In fact, all participants in this program have to be six months of age or younger, and must be up to date on all vaccines.

You can think of our Puppy Academy as a sort of day school for your pup! Our days are structured much like a school day. Research has shown that puppies do well when on a regular schedule and have set routines. You can feel good knowing that your pup is spending their time in an engaging and fun environment while also picking up good behavioral habits that can last them their whole life.

The goal of this program is to help families adjust to their life with a new puppy. Though there are many benefits to getting a new dog, a young pup can also bring stress and worry in addition to all the cute playfulness and snuggles. Our experienced and certified trainers want to help take some of the stress away from this time by offering their help and expertise. While in this program, your dog will be working on learning how to socialize and play appropriately with other dogs, walking on a leash, basic commands, and many more important skills.

Day Play and Train

Dog Play and Train is open to dogs of all levels and ages and offers the best combination of training sessions and doggy daycare. Your dog will get all the benefits from the playing and socialization that daycare offers, as well as the mental stimulation your dog needs to learn or maintain their obedience skill sets.

For some dogs, it is just as essential for them to receive these mental exercises as it is for them to have enough physical exercise. Ensuring that your dog is both mentally and physically stimulated is one key component to maintaining harmony between your pet and your home.

Lodge and Learn

If you feel that your dog needs a jumpstart on their training lessons, you might consider one of our overnight boot camps. These boot camps allow our trainers to spend extra time with your dog, getting to know them and assess their skills and behaviors. Long-term observations will allow our experienced and certified trainers to develop a training plan that is totally tailored to your dog.

Multiple dog training techniques have been proven effective, but we know that each dog is unique and will respond differently to each technique. For instance, some dogs are highly motivated by food, and will work very hard to earn treats. However, this is not true of all dogs. Other dogs may require different methods.

Whether you are seeking behavior modification, obedience training, or socialization practice, our lodge and learn training can be the right fit for you! Open to dogs of any age and experience level, our goal is to work with your dog (and you!) to help you develop a strong relationship based on trust and respect with your canine companion.

How Can I Determine the Right Training Program for My Family?

If you are ready to begin the training process but aren’t sure which program would work best for you, reach out to us and schedule your free training evaluation. One of our certified training coaches will meet with you and your dog to ask questions and observe behaviors. Once we have determined what is important to you and where your dog is in their training, we would be happy to offer you a recommendation for what we think will be the best fit.
